As property investors and developers 3D printer technology is something we should all keep an eye on…
A Chinese construction company is building houses that can be mass-produced using a 3D printer. Using a mixture of cement and construction waste, the houses can be produced for under $5,000 (£2,970). The walls and structure of the house are printed layer by layer using a process that allows up to 10 complete houses to be printed in one day!
Instead of using ink, 3D printers use melted filament to create a thin layer of material.
The print head gradually builds these layers on top of each other, which harden to create a solid object.
Can you imagine the effects this would have on house building if 3D printing became easily accessible to the ordinary developer! You could complete a whole project in a matter of days!
